Activins and inhibins are polypeptide hormones/growth factors of primarily gonadal origin. In the ovary, activins and inhibins are primarily synthesized by granulosa cells. Serum inhibin measurements have been used for the follow-up of patients with granulosa-cell tumors (GCT) after surgery.
