Mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene are a relatively frequent cause of male infertility such as congenital absence of vas deferens. This finding suggests that CFTR could play a significant role in the etiopathogenesis of congenital absence of vas deferens.
