The problem of dialysate bacterial contamination has not been defined in continuous renal replacement therapy. We assessed the bacterial integrity of source bicarbonate dialysate (study 1) and the continuous veno-venous HD (CVVHD) bicarbonate dialysate circuit (study 2).
