Genotypes of alcohol dehydrogenase 2(ADH2) and aldehyde dehydrogenase 2(ALDH2) were detected by using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) in order to acquire and compare the distributions of polymorphisms about ADH2 and ALDH2 in five Chinese nationalities. The results were as follows: (1) Heterozygous genotype of ADH2 and homozygous genotype of ALDH2 are the two dominant ones in all the five nationalities. (2) The distributions of the two genes 'polymorphisms have certain differences among some nationalities.
