There are the results of the examination and treatment of 68 patients with duodenal ulcers, 52 of them having the Helicobacter pylori (HP) semination of the mucous coat of stomach revealed by the histologic method and/or fast urease test before the treatment. The healing of the duodenal bulb ulcer was recorded in 82.7% of cases in this group of patients after the four-week treatment (ranitidine, 150 mg b.i.d. for four weeks in combination with amoxicillin, 500 mg q.i.d., and metronidazole, 500 mg b.i.d. for the initial ten-day period); the healing of ulcers was recorded in 81.3% of cases in the second group of patients who had no HP revealed and were treated only with ranitidine, 150 mg b.i.d. for four weeks. The eradication of HP in the first group of patients was recorded in 86.5% of cases after 28-42 days following the termination of the treatment.
