Thirty percent of patients suffering from malignant disease develop pulmonary metastases. Effective chemotherapy is lacking for many of these tumors. A selected group of patients with metastases limited to the lung may benefit from pulmonary metastasectomy. This study describes the patient selection, the prognostic factors and the operative approach.
