The work of a Warsaw otiatrist, social activist and patron of arts Karol Benni (1843-1916) is presented and a special consideration given to so called Fridays between the years 1873 and 1914, when he entertained notable personalities like scientists, politicians, men of letters and jurnalists from the annexed territories of the partitioned Poland. The part played by Henryk Sienkiewicz in Benni's Salon and the friendship of the two outstanding men are shown. Likewise, Benni's activities in the town of Na?eczów and his meetings there are presented.
