The concept of guided tissue regeneration was first introduced in the literature more than 20 years ago. Since then, the concept has evolved to include different materials and different techniques. This article describes the technique of using calcium sulfate as a component of a composite graft and as a resorbable barrier. Its unique biological and clinical advantages are described.
