Trauma modulates polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN) function, predisposing to organ failure and infection. Many chemoattractants released by injury activate PMNs via G-protein-coupled (GPC) receptors, which elevate PMN cytosolic calcium ([Ca2+]i). Nonetheless, PMN GPC receptor function after injury is unstudied.
