Neointimal formation in response to arterial injury is a major contributing element in restenosis after coronary balloon angioplasty and stenting. Endovascular irradiation has been reported to be effective in reducing restenosis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of beta-emitting holmium-166 for the inhibition of neointimal formation in porcine coronary artery.
