Since atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammation and the erythrocyte sedimentation rate is an appropriate test for monitoring chronic inflammatory responses, we wanted to investigate whether the erythrocyte sedimentation rate might carry prognostic information on the risk of sustaining coronary heart disease events.
