During neurogenic inflammation, neuro-peptides (substance P, SP, calcitonin gene-related peptide, CGRP, and neurokinin A) are released from nerve endings, and these peptides initiate inflammatory reactions in the microcirculation. Platelets are one of the most important elements of the microcirculation.
