Although the white paper is not proposing an American style NHS, some of its key ideas are of American origin and based on American experience, and American hospitals are currently facing intense competition. So what is happening in the USA is very relevant to the likely future of the NHS. Hugh Ross went there last year and found that some things were not exactly what he had expected.
