FUNCTION: Tramscription factor that participates in the transcriptional activation of glucose-repressed genes during exponential growth in non-fermentable carbon conditions. Also involved in salt-stress response. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus. Note=Found in the nucleus in conditions under which NSF1 is actively transcribed, such as growth with non-fermentable carbon sources or salt stress. INDUCTION: Repressed by glucose but is activated in the presence of non-fermentable carbon sources or salt stress. The latter transcriptional activation of NSF1 is partially dependent on the SNF1 signaling pathway. SIMILARITY: Contains 2 C2H2-type zinc fingers. GENE SYNONYMS: NSF1. COPYRIGHT: Protein annotation is derived from the UniProt Consortium (http://www.uniprot.org/). Distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs License.
