Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 39 kDa subunit, eIF-3 39 kDa subunit, eIF3 p39, eIF3i

FUNCTION: Component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex, which is involved in protein synthesis and, together with other initiation factors, stimulates binding of mRNA and methionyl-tRNAi to the 40S ribosome. SUBUNIT: The eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) core complex is composed of TIF32, PRT1, NIP1, TIF34 and TIF35. The factors eIF-1, eIF-2, eIF-3, TIF5/eIF-5 and methionyl-tRNAi form a multifactor complex (MFC) that may bind to the 40S ribosome. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm (Probable). MISCELLANEOUS: Present with 2400 molecules/cell in log phase SD medium. SIMILARITY: Belongs to the eIF-3 subunit I family. SIMILARITY: Contains 5 WD repeats. COPYRIGHT: Protein annotation is derived from the UniProt Consortium (http://www.uniprot.org/). Distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs License.
