Ubiquitination of IKBA by HSP27.1) HSP27 binds to polyubiquitin chains and to the 26S proteasome in vitro and in vivo. This ubiquitin-proteasome pathway is involved in the activation of transcription factor NF-kB and account for its antiapoptotic properties by degrading its main inhibitor, IkB-alpha. 2) HSP27 overexpression increases NF-kB nuclear relocalization.3) HSP27 does not affect IkB-alpha phosphorylation but enhances the degradation of phosphorylated IkB-alpha by the proteasome. its antiapoptotic properties through the enhancement of NF-B activity.4) The experiment was done both in U937 or MEF cells for ubiquitination.
