UMD: Antimicrobial dressings impregnated with two or more agents, either two antimicrobial agents (e.g. metronidazole BP, benzalkonium chloride solution BP) or two agents, one antimicrobial and one that is not (e.g., an antimicrobial drug, charcoal). Any type of substrate may be used. Combined impregnated antimicrobial dressings reduce the number of and/or kill microorganisms (i.e., bacteria, fungi, viruses); they are intended mainly to reduce the risk of infections in wounds, burns, and skin grafts.
