UMD: Dressings impregnated with petrolatum. The substrate of these dressings is usually gauze and nonwoven fabric. Petrolatum dressings reduce the adhesion of the dressing to the wound and provide a moist environment; petrolatum dressings are intended mainly to protect wounds, preventing and/or reducing the formation of scar tissue.
