UMD: Dressings impregnated with saline solution or dry sodium chloride. The substrate of these dressings is usually plain gauze. Saline dressings facilitate the cleaning of wound drain exudates, helping to keep debris and bacteria away and maintaining a moist environment; they are used mainly to treat necrotic or heavily exuding wounds.
