NCI: A measure of the probability that a result happened by chance. The lower the p-value, the more likely it is that the result was caused by phenomenon of interest.,NCI: A term in statistics. It helps show whether a difference found between groups that are being compared is due to chance. A small p-value usually means that the difference between groups is not due to chance alone, but is due to some other factor, such as a treatment one of the groups received. A large p-value usually means that the difference between groups is probably due to chance alone.
