NCI: Amyloidogenesis is the formation or growth of amyloid structures, implicated in many human diseases including Alzheimer s disease (AD), Parkinson s disease (PD), type II diabetes, and spongiform encephalopathies. In these disease states, normally soluble proteins aggregate as amyloidogenic insoluble fibrils that accumulate in affected tissues or organs.
