NCI: Human CD7 wild-type allele is located within 17q25.2-q25.3 and is approximately 3 kb in length. This allele, which encodes T-cell antigen CD7 protein, plays an essential role in both T-cell interactions and T-cell/B-cell interactions during early lymphoid development. CD7 gene is the most reliable clinical marker of T-cell acute lymphocytic leukemia.
