NCI: A recombinant form of Transforming Growth Factor-Alpha, a polypeptide growth factor involved with the growth and differentiation of epidermal and epithelial cells, playing a role in phenotypic transformation. It is structurally and functionally similar to Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) and binds to the same receptor.
