NCI: MDC-15; ADAM-15; metargidin. Member of a sequence-related family of cysteine-rich membrane proteins containing metalloproteinase-like and disintegrin-like domains; contains an RGD sequence in its disintegrin domain.,NCI: Metalloprotease-RGD-disintegrin protein (ADAM15) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein member of a family of cysteine-rich cell adhesion proteins containing metalloproteinase-like and disintegrin-like domains. ADAM15 contains an RGD sequence in its disintegrin domain. The RGD domain of ADAM15 appears to interact with integrin alpha5/beta3 or integrin alpha5/beta1, but not with other integrins. Important in cell adhesion and proteolytic shedding of cell surface receptors, ADAMs also contain an EGF-like domain with cell fusion activity and a cytoplasmic regulatory domain. Endophilin-1 and sorting nexin-9 interact with the cytoplasmic domain of ADAM15. (from OMIM 605548 and NCI)
