NCI: Cell culture studies demonstrate that TACC2 interacts with GAS41 and the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex. This suggests that defects in TACC2 expression may affect gene regulation, thus contributing to the pathogenesis of some tumors. (from Genomics 2003;81:192-201),NCI: Encoded by human TACC2 Gene, Acidic Coiled-Coil Protein 2 (TACC Family) is a 1026-amino acid 112 kD protein containing a coiled-coil region highly related to that of TACC1. Transforming acidic coiled-coil proteins are a conserved family of centrosome- and microtubule-interacting proteins. Nuclear TACC2 protein strongly concentrates at centrosomes throughout the cell cycle and interacts with microtubules. It may organize centrosomal microtubules. Acidic coiled-coil protein 2 is a candidate tumor suppressor protein and a biomarker for tumor progression. (from SWISS-PROT, OMIM, and NCI)
