UMD: Needles designed for intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injection and/or infusion of gases, liquids, and semisolids, either directly or through other medical devices (e.g., catheters, infusion ports). Injection needles typically consist of hollow, sharply pointed, metallic devices with the opposite end finished in a connector (e.g., female Luer slip or Luer lock) that can be easily attached to a syringe or other infusion device.
