NCI: Encoded by human DDR2 Gene (InRTK Subfamily) and expressed in heart, lung, brain, placenta, liver, skeletal muscle, pancreas, and kidney, 855-amino acid 96.8-kD precursor Discoidin Domain Receptor 2 is a receptor tyrosine kinase for fibrillar collagen involved in cell adhesion. Mediating fibroblast migration and proliferation, the type I membrane protein contains an intracellular catalytic domain and extracellular coagulation factor 5/8 type C and discoidin domains. RTKs often transduce signals by ligand induced receptor oligomerization, intracellular autophosphorylation, and phosphorylation of cytosolic targets. DDR2 may contribute to cutaneous wound healing.
