UMD: Prepackaged collections of the small (e.g., handheld) devices and supplies needed for the liquid cleansing of a body structure, cavity, or wound. These kits typically include a bulb or plunger syringe, a container, a tip protector, a waterproof drape, tubing, a flow-control device (e.g., a clamp), and an alcohol prep pad. The syringe used for irrigation in the kit may be also used for aspiration (i.e., removal) of the irrigating fluid and/or debris. Dedicated irrigation/lavage kits intended for particular procedures, such as lavage of the urinary bladder, ear, eye, and peritoneum, are available.
