Endometrial Stromal Tumors

MSH: Neoplasms of the endometrial stroma that sometimes involve the MYOMETRIUM. These tumors contain cells that may closely or remotely resemble the normal stromal cells. Endometrial stromal neoplasms are divided into three categories: (1) benign stromal nodules; (2) low-grade stromal sarcoma, or endolymphatic stromal myosis; and (3) malignant endometrial stromal sarcoma (SARCOMA, ENDOMETRIAL STROMAL).,NCI: A mesenchymal gynecologic neoplasm. It is classified as endometrial stromal nodule or endometrial stromal sarcoma. Endometrial stromal nodule has been described in the uterine corpus and it is characterized by the lack of infiltration of the surrounding tissues. Endometrial stromal sarcoma affects the uterine corpus, ovaries, cervix, and vagina. It is characterized by an infiltrative growth pattern and is subdivided into low grade and undifferentiated (high grade) endometrial stromal sarcoma.
