Streptococcus uberis

NCI: Any bacterial organism that can be assigned to the species Streptococcus uberis.,NCI: A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram positive, cocci shaped bacteria in the phylum Firmicutes. This species is catalase negative, leucine aminopeptidase and pyrrolidonylarylamidase positive, grows in 6.5% NaCl and hydrolyzes esculin. It can ferment salicin, inulin, trehalose, mannitol, and sorbitol but not raffinose. S. uberis is found in a wide variety of environments and may cause mastitis in cows, but is not known to be a human pathogen.
