MSH: Spindle-shaped cells with characteristic CONTRACTILE PROTEINS and structures that contribute to the WOUND HEALING process. They occur in GRANULATION TISSUE and also in pathological processes such as FIBROSIS.,NCI: A spindle-shaped cell that exhibits characteristics of both fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells. It has an elongated nucleus and does not have basal lamina. The cytoplasm can be distinguished from the surrounding matrix because of actin filaments, myosin and other muscle proteins arranged to suggest a contractile ability.
