UMD: Synthetic polymer tubing made of nylon (polyamide). Nylon tubing is typically a small-diameter, hollow, semirigid or flexible cylinder designed for the transfer of fluids, either liquids or gases; they are typically made with different structures (e.g., braided, reinforced) according to the intended use. Nylon tubing is usually available in standardized lengths and in a variety of diameters and wall thicknesses (i.e., gauges) that permit the use of segments of different sizes appropriate for a given application in the healthcare facility.
