UMD: Prepackaged collections (either custom or standard) of the necessary supplies to be used to prepare the intended surgical/procedure site on the patient (e.g., the skin/area where the surgical incision will be made, the skin/area where a device [e.g., a permanent cathete] will be inserted). Some kits contain the necessary supplies for shaving a particular area; others may contain supplies needed to clean and make the intended area sterile. These kits are typically packaged as single-use, sterile items.
