Sampling Kits, Midstream Urine

Source:http://linkedlifedata.com/resource/umls/id/C0181864

UMD: Kits designed to obtain a sample of urine after the initial urine specimen containing urethral contaminants is voided (i.e., a midstream sample). Some kits are designed to obtain the sample while the patient urinates continuously into a single container; an inner bag receives a pre-determined initial fraction of the urinary stream and then automatically moves away, permitting the outer bag to receive the clean midstream urine sample. Other kits are intended to obtain the sample after the patient voids a small quantity of urine into the toilet. The kits may include bags (e.g., an outer and an inner bag), an inlet ring, a collecting tube, a valve, sterile wipes, and a clip or clamp. Midstream urine collection kits provide clean urine specimens for laboratory analysis.
