UMD: Lights designed to emit radiation mainly in the 100 to 380 nm wavelength range. Ultraviolet lights typically consist of low pressure mercury vapor tubes that emit ultraviolet radiation as well as some visible light. They are mostly used to reduce germs in the environment (i.e., germicidal); some are used for diagnosis.
