SPN: A chronaximeter is a device intended for medical purposes to measure neuromuscular excitability by means of a strength-duration curve that provides a basis for diagnosis and prognosis of neurological dysfunction.,UMD: Instruments for measuring the minimal duration current flow necessary to stimulate a threshold muscle contraction (i.e., chronaxy). The measurements are typically made at double the voltage necessary to produce a twitch in the muscle (i.e., rheobase). Chronaximeters are used mainly to establish the state of innervation of a muscle, especially when nerve lesions are suspected.
