UMD: Chairs designed to assess the vestibulo-ocular reflex during head movements, by evaluating the rhythmic movement (nystagmus) and/or deviation of the eyes in response to the stimulation of the vestibular system by angular acceleration or deceleration. These chairs are usually attached to a motor which provides precisely controlled rotation (i.e., controlled direction, velocity and acceleration of rotation) of the chair. Vestibulo-ocular rotating chairs are components of a system that includes other devices such as projectors and video cameras and computing capabilities.
