CSP: blood contained in the umbilical vessels at the time of delivery of fetus; this is NOT to be used for any (human or nonhuman) fetal tissue or cells; for fetal tissues use EMBRYO/FETUS CELL/TISSUE or HUMAN FETUS TISSUE.,NCI: Blood from the umbilical cord of a newborn baby. This blood contains high concentrations of stem cells (cells from which all blood cells develop).,NCI: Blood present in the umbilical vessels at the time of delivery. If cryopreserved at birth, cord blood can serve as a source of autologous lymphocytes for transplantation to a patient later diagnosed and treated for leukemia or lymphoma.
