CSP: cysteine rich mitogen secreted by vascular endothelial cells.,NCI: Connective tissue growth factor protein (349 aa, ~38kDa) is encoded by the human CTGF gene. This protein plays a role in the promotion of proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes and also mediates heparin- and divalent cation-dependent cell adhesion in many different cell types. The protein has also been found to inhibit the metastatic activity of human lung cancer in mice by angiogenisis inhibition.,MSH: A CCN protein family member that regulates a variety of extracellular functions including CELL ADHESION; CELL MIGRATION; and EXTRACELLULAR MATRIX synthesis. It is found in hypertrophic CHONDROCYTES where it may play a role in CHONDROGENESIS and endochondral ossification.
