MSH: A species of gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped bacteria found in humans and other animals including MAMMALS; BIRDS; REPTILES; and AMPHIBIANS. It has also been isolated from SOIL and WATER as well as from clinical specimens such as URINE; THROAT; SPUTUM; BLOOD; and wound swabs as an opportunistic pathogen.,NCI: A species of facultatively anaerobic, gram negative, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is motile by peritrichous flagella, oxidase negative, catalase positive, grows in KCN medium, and successfully ferment sucrose, raffinose and melibiose. C. freundii is most commonly found in water, sewage, soil and food and is an opportunistic pathogen in neonates and immunocompromised patients.,NCI: Any bacterial organism that can be assigned to the species Citrobacter freundii.
