MSH: A CELL LINE derived from a PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA of the rat ADRENAL MEDULLA. PC12 cells stop dividing and undergo terminal differentiation when treated with NERVE GROWTH FACTOR, making the line a useful model system for NERVE CELL differentiation.,CSP: cell line established from a rat pheochromocytoma; has many properties in common with primary sympathetic neurons and chromaffin cell cultures; used primarily as a neuron model.,NCI: PC-12 adheres poorly to plastic, and tends to grow in small clusters. Attachment is improved by using collagen coated flasks.
