MSH: Substances that influence the course of a chemical reaction by ready combination with free radicals. Among other effects, this combining activity protects pancreatic islets against damage by cytokines and prevents myocardial and pulmonary perfusion injuries.,CSP: class of compounds which oxidize, reduce, combine with, or catalyze reactions of radicals; used to probe chemical reaction mechanisms, to verify free radical effects on biological systems, and experimentally as chemopreventives for free radical toxicity in vivo.
