MSH: A cell surface protein-tyrosine kinase receptor that is found to be overexpressed in a significant number of adenocarcinomas. It has extensive homology to and can heterodimerize with the EGF receptor (RECEPTOR, EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTOR), the erbB-3 receptor (RECEPTOR, ERBB-3) and the erbB-4 receptor. Activation of the erbB-2 receptor occurs during heterodimer formation with a ligand-bound erbB receptor family members.,NCI: A protein involved in normal cell growth. It is found on some types of cancer cells, including breast and ovarian. Cancer cells removed from the body may be tested for the presence of c-erbB-2 to help decide the best type of treatment. c-erbB-2 is a type of receptor tyrosine kinase.,NCI: Receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2 (1255 aa, ~138 kDa) is encoded by the human ERBB2 gene. This protein is involved in cell proliferation, tyrosine phosphorylation and signal transduction.
