MSH: A myelin protein that is the major component of the organic solvent extractable lipoprotein complexes of whole brain. It has been the subject of much study because of its unusual physical properties. It remains soluble in chloroform even after essentially all of its bound lipids have been removed. (From Siegel et al., Basic Neurochemistry, 4th ed, p122),CSP: family of fatty acylated, extremely hydrophobic membrane proteins that serve to glue the intracellular faces of myelin lamellae in tight apposition; accounts for more than half of total myelin protein.,NCI: Myelin proteolipid protein (277 aa, ~30 kDa) is encoded by the human PLP1 gene. This protein is involved in the structure of the myelin sheath.
