NCI: A yellowish, aromatic hydrocarbon consisting of five fused rings and formed by the incomplete combustion of organic matter. Benzo(j)fluoranthene is primarily found in certain foods, cigarette smoke, gasoline exhaust, coal tar, coal smoke, oil heat emissions, crude oils and used motor oils. This substance is used only for research purposes. Benzo(j)fluoranthene is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen. (NCI05)
