MSH: Mechanical devices used to produce or assist pulmonary ventilation.,CSP: device used to produce or assist pulmonary ventilation.,UMD: Devices designed to provide respiratory protection. They may prevent the device wearer from inhaling dangerous particles, gases, and/or vapors from the environment. Respirators may be designed to remove particles (e.g., dusts, mists, some bacteria), gases/vapors, or both; typically, the user can attach the respirator to his/her face without help from another person. Some devices filter the ambient air before it reaches the respirator user; others supply clean air directly from a source different than the surrounding air. Respirators are mostly used in emergency situations to protect people from inhalation of bacteria, contaminated particulates, and gases and/or vapors from chemical spills.
