It is analogous to bacterial transformation (TRANSFORMATION, BACTERIAL) and both are routinely employed in GENE TRANSFER TECHNIQUES.,CSP: technique of transferring DNA into somatic cells or germ lines of experimental animals so that the cells or progeny may express the integrated donor gene.,NCI: The process of introduction of DNA into a recipient eukaryote cell and its subsequent integration into the recipient cell's chromosomal DNA, so that the cells or progeny may express the integrated donor gene.
