MSH: A peptide hormone of about 27 amino acids from the duodenal mucosa that activates pancreatic secretion and lowers the blood sugar level. (USAN and the USP Dictionary of Drug Names, 1994, p597),CSP: strongly basic polypeptide hormone secreted by the duodenal and jejunal mucosa that activates pancreatic secretion and lowers the blood sugar level; it has a lesser stimulatory effect on bile and intestinal secretion.,NCI: A hormone released into the blood by cells in the inner layer of the small intestine. It is released when partly digested food moves from the stomach into the small intestine. Secretin causes the pancreas, liver, and stomach to release other substances that help digest food. Secretin may also be made in the laboratory.
