Ranvier's Nodes

Source:http://linkedlifedata.com/resource/umls/id/C0034667

MSH: Regularly spaced gaps in the myelin sheaths of peripheral axons. Ranvier's nodes allow saltatory conduction, that is, jumping of impulses from node to node, which is faster and more energetically favorable than continuous conduction.,CSP: constrictions occurring on myelinated nerve fibers at regular intervals of about one millimeter; at these sites the myelin sheath is absent and the axon is enclosed only by Schwann cell processes; Ranvier's nodes allow saltatory conduction, that is, jumping of impulses from node to node, which is faster and more energetically favorable than continuous conduction.,GO: An axon part that is a gap in the myelin where voltage-gated sodium channels cluster and saltatory conduction is executed.
