These solutions usually include several components, using ethanol as a solvent, that provide a refreshing feeling and help prevent bad breath (halitosis). Mouthwash is usually used to rinse the mouth after brushing and/or flossing; most mouthwash solutions include active ingredients to inhibit or kill microorganisms (antiseptic), helping to control tooth decay and gingivitis. Other dedicated mouthwash solutions use zinc to prevent halitosis and/or fluorides to prevent tooth decay.,HL7V3.0: <p>An aqueous solution which is most often used for its deodorant, refreshing, or antiseptic effect.</p>
